一開始讀這本書 Half the Sky 我就不想把它放下。
我一邊讀的時候覺得好informative， 另一方面我亦覺得好羞愧。這個世界另一個角落有數不盡的女性受不公平的對待（例如 性販運, 強暴未成年少女 迫她們當性奴, 歧視性別產生的暴力, 孕產婦死亡率是一分鐘一名婦女，等等），我卻沒有做些什麼去幫助她們...
由Nicholas Kristof 和Sheryl WuDunn寫的這一本書除了提供大量知訊和統計，也提供了很多NGO背後的工作。最值得看是他們寫出很多女性受害者的遭遇，並提出有效方法對付全球貧困危機然後幫助這些女性發揮她們應有的潛能。
你可能覺得這些事情離你好遠， 但當你認知這是什麼一回事之後是很難忽視的。我和你都可以出一份微力去幫助她們！
我很recommend大家去看看這本書。
Half The Sky is remarkable and I just couldn’t put it down, it is a must read book for all women in the world. The stories of these women are inspirational yet heartbreaking to read, and what’s more depressing is knowing the state of the world and how much injustice there is in this world. Everyday, women face sex trafficking and forced prostitution; gender-based violence, including honor killings and mass rape; maternal mortality which kills one woman every minute… and I feel so ashamed I haven’t done anything to help.
PLEASE read this book if you have a chance. You might think this is something too big for you to help/contribute, but this is a wake up call for both you and me. It is time to be asking each and every day, "What can I do to make a difference?”
